Welcome to this brochure about The Walking Best 2023. Last year we launched the first edition with great success. This year we will publish a new series, but with a new concept. A concept that is even more dynamic and will lead to even more audience share.
We look back on a very successful first edition of The Walking Best. The number of views per episode is something we are very proud of and the beautiful thing… they continue to grow steadily.

-Ep. 2: 19K
-Ep. 3: 15K
-Ep. 4: 23K
-Ep. 5: 14K
-Ep. 6: 17K
Roofmeister The Walking Best part II in short: Max 6 teams, organization chooses starting location, match duration of 8 hours, brand new concept, 9 matches, 9 episodes, ingame elements, 6K registration fee.
Part Two
Of course we are going to make a second series and the suggestion box has not remained empty for that. On the contrary, it overflows! With this first version we think we were already quite distinctive compared to the other YT battles. This time we want to go next level. The aim is to make each episode even more dynamic, to highlight the characters even more and, above all, to keep the viewer captivated during an episode.
The aim is to have 6 teams participate, with two pools with 3 teams. After that, 3 matches will be fought for places 1 and 2 & 3 and 4 & 5 and 6. In the end, that comes down to 9 battles and therefore episodes.
Each battle both teams meet up at a location that we as an organization choose. This location is also briefed to the participants so that they can prepare for the region in which they will be fishing.
What’s the angle?
We are inspired by the Dutch television program Wie is de Mol? and the popular Escape Room activities. Translated into The Walking Best, we now want to integrate high-profile assignments. No bland / superficial elements, but assignments related to predatory angling skills and know-how. We don’t want to reveal too much and yet we don’t want to remain too vague. So an example:
The Mystery box
The fishing day starts with Sjoerd Beljaars as host who welcomes the participants at a specific location . Sjoerd is standing behind a table with 4 boxes on it. Each box represents a benefit that day, for example:
-All fish on a surface lure 40 points extra.
-You may cross off a fish from the other team’s list.
– Enable additional fisherman.
-Then there is a box with a question mark, which can be a great advantage, but just as well a disadvantage, for example ‘First legal sized fish does not count.’
For some advantages, the anglers receive the necessary briefing a week in advance, for example: “Make sure you have surface lures with you on match day, as this can be beneficial for the score. In addition, it is smart to have an extra angler on standby that day.”
Then the two teams at the starting location receive an assignment. For example: Make the strongest connecting knot. The team that makes the strongest knot gets to choose a box first.
Each new battle we will vary with these assignments and content of the boxes.
Ingame elements
Furthermore, after 4 hours of fishing, the participants receive an in-game assignment, for which they receive an envelope with, for example: “Between 5 and 6 hours, all zander counts double.” It is up to the teams how they will adapt their strategy and tactics to this.
With these extra elements we are convinced that we can provide much more interaction. Just with the two teams physically present at the starting location. Then, just like in TWB part 1, via a What’s App group and FaceTime. Of course, the interaction between the fishermen in the team will also be portrayed in a striking way. Of course the fishing itself, but just as well tactical and strategic discussions among themselves and with explanations about the products that are used.
The score
How points can be earned remains unchanged compared to the previous edition. The captured centimeters are finally added up to the final score. The final score includes:
-The largest pike (only above legal minimum size of 45 cm).
-The two largest walleye (only above legal minimum size of 42 cm).
-The two largest perch (only above minimum size of 22 cm).
If a team gets a full score card, that team gets 80 points extra.
TWB Poule
Of course, such a concept where people can win something is always a strong marketing tool, but in this context it also ensures even more involvement in seeing all episodes/battles.
Professionality
Just like last year, a professional cameraman (also as a marshall) goes along with the best possible recording equipment during a battle per team. All this under the supervision of filmmaker Bo Staartjes. Nothing will be left to chance. Furthermore, all episodes will again be subtitled in German and English.
Of course once again a marketing machine running at full speed, driven by the largest predatory fishing platform in the Benelux (Website, Roofmeister App, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and our newsletter). Before, during and after, we want to give all episodes as much exposure as possible.
What do we ask?
As mentioned, our aim is to bring together a total of 6 teams, so 8 anglers. What we ask for participation:
-The best two Dutch-speaking shore anglers associated with a brand.
-6000 Euro investment, ex. VAT.
-A material prize of at least 400 Euro retail value, intended for the big prize festival – TWB poule.
